Nanako Kogure (小暮 奈々子, Kogure Nanako) is one of the main characters of the series. She is a resident of Share House Kitayama and a member of the Platinum Generation.
Appearance[]
Nanako has the appearance of a gyaru with long strawberry-blond hair that is worn in a ponytail where it is tied back by a green hair tie and red eyes.
She wears a short denim jacket, a white v-neck shirt, mustard pants and dark faded pink shoes. She wears a black and red jacket uniform when she's at work in the convenience store.
Personality[]
Nanako is often described as onery, scandalous and evil by Tsurayuki. However Nanako is sociable, upbeat and funny. While outwardly confident she also had a lack of confidence in her singing skills which she confessed to Kyoya Hashiba deciding to pursue acting instead even though her true passion was for singing, until Kyoya and the others helped push her to take it seriously. She was also very shy with singing in front of others until she was spurred on by Kyoya and the rest. Her playful teasing back and forths with Tsurayuki are a trademark among their friend group.
While she appears as a gyaru she can also be shy and innocent as well, most often in her actions due to her attitude towards romance. Notwitstanding this. she's also able to be bold and overcome that shyness when she tries. She's also able to be honest with her own feelings.
She blushes easily when embarassed and visibly turns red when she does.
Background[]
A second-year student in Kyōya Hashiba's Department of Film and who is commonly known as Nanako. As of 2016, Nanako was working as a popular singer known N@NA in the world, and a member of the platinum generation.
She works part-time at a convenience store in the same neighborhood alongside Kyōya. She was acting as an aspiring actor, but she really wanted to be a singer, she couldn't believe in her talents. Kyōya's efforts led her to find a way out as a singer and to work positively on singing. This kindness led her to develop feelings for him, which only increased over time.
In 2018, she continued to post videos of her singing on Nico Nico Douga, but she did not gain popularity because of the number of posts she had in the world. However she did not give up and still continued to follow her dream. After Kyoya returned to 2006 he realized how his actions may have stifled her growth and instead help fostered her independence while still supporting her in helping reach her potential by showing her new ways to grow her singing skills and online presence, while also supporting her emotionally. Their friendship also continually grow stronger.
Etymology[]
- The name Nanako means "apple tree" (奈) (na) and "child" (子) (ko).
- Nanako's surname Kogure means "small" (小) (ko) and "living/livelihood/make a living, spend time" (暮) (kure/gure).
Trivia[]
- Nanako came from Shiga Prefecture.
- She has a strong punching ability which Tsurayuki is often victim too, even though they tease each other and get into arguments, she came with Kyoya to Tsurayuki's hometown to bring him back to the University of the Arts.
- When at home, Nanako wears two differint kinds of outfits that lacks any footwear of anykind and as such, Nanako goes around barefooted when in those outfits, they are also so far the only ones with no footwear to be shown.
- Tho in episode 6 when wearing the second outfit, there are two kinds of shoes that are shown, which means that Nanako does have footwear when in the second outfit, tho its unknown as to which of the footwears are Nanako's or Aki.
- Whats interesting to note is that when in these two outfits, Nanako sometimes goes on her knees barefooted when in those outfits, and are also so far the only times when Nanako goes on her knees barefooted.
- Aimi, Nanako's Japanese voice actress, is the vocalist of Poppin' Party, the group performing the opening theme of the series. The group also performed a cover of "God knows...", the song Nanako performed in the fifth episode of the anime.
